Who can enter

The Player Scramble Series is exclusively open to all Player Tour Platinum Members.

NO ENTRY FEES – Player Amateur Tour members simply pay their own green fees at all Scramble events.

For those who are not members of the Player Amateur Tour, there is a chance to enter and play a Scramble event by simply joining the Player Amateur Tour as a member.

How does the Scramble Series work?

Teams of 4 will compete in a Texas Scramble format during the Series season.

Players who do not enter as a team will be grouped into foursomes.

Hosted at your local golf course, the winning team of each Scramble event will progress (joined by their local Pro) to the three-day, all-expense paid Player Scramble Cup at PGA National Resort.

Scramble Series Format

The Player Scramble Series consists of one event hosted at affiliated golf courses and one Player Scramble Cup will be presented for every 36 Scramble events or portion thereof.

The field for all Player Scramble events will feature a maximum of 36 teams competing in 18 holes of Texas Scramble.

Scramble play - all team players tee-off, they all play from the spot of the shot/drive of choice, until the ball is in the hole.

Each team returns one score for each hole and the team with the lowest score minus the Player Scramble handicap wins.

Player Scramble Cup

The OnCore Player Scramble Cup will be played in accordance with the rules set by the Player Amateur Tour.

All local Scramble event winners, teamed with their local Pro, will enjoy a 3-day, all-expenses paid trip to PGA National to compete in the five-person team Player Scramble Cup.

Scramble series season

The Player Scramble Series begin on May 1st of each year and ending on the last day of April of the following year.

Monday: Player arrivals (Practice round optional)

Tuesday: Scramble Cup tournament play

Wednesday: Player Pro Invitational

Thursday: Player departures

Tournaments are hosted in May and June - the final dates will be announced at the conclusion of each season.

Player Amateur Scramble Team Handicap

Teams will be assigned a Player Scramble team handicap according to their handicap index. The team handicap is based on the player’s USGA® handicap and those handicaps of the Player Amateur Tour’s blue members, as per the chart below.

Only one team member may have a negative of -2 Player Scramble Handicap, but all four may have a positive Player Scramble Handicap.

The Player Scramble handicap may total:

  • no less than plus one; and
  • not more than plus ten.

If a team’s total is plus eleven or more, it will be given a plus ten.

The team handicap will be calculated as follows:

Add all positive handicaps

Subtract the negative handicap to find the total team handicap

Selection of Shots

All team players tee-off, they all play from the spot of the shot/drive of choice, until the ball is in the hole. Team players choose the best (tee) shot through a general consensus of their scramble team, on condition that each player may only use the number of tee shots as per the chart below:
